The purpose of this study was to determine what the city of Pittsburgh should do with regard to the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Mellon Arena and choose the best option among the alternatives between the following alternatives: a) Build New Arena, b) Refurbish Existing Arena, and c) Keep Existing Arena This study done in 2002 predicted quite accurately the outcome of what the city of Pittsburgh did about the Penguins Civic Arena.
